Glitz Design Mini Book #2

A few more photos of the workshop book I posted last time.
This is what the book looks like from the front. When looking at this again, I can see I went out of my comfort zone with this one. The colors would not be my first choice....but we all know how much I am a fan of gesso.... So the gesso made it more a poppins thing.. .hahaha

The paper line is from Glitz Design. A workshop goodie bag filled with all the embellishments to full the inside and more. Something different I threw into the workshop. Part embossing. You can see it on the black paper. It pops with the gold highlight.

Below a view of the spine.

If I was to add more gesso to the flowers, they would become a lighter shade of yellow. With the black back ground and the gold finish...I did not want to over do it. The photos seam to be brighter than in the real life, but in all, every one was happy....me too.

When you think of it....this is a project, that hopefully one will make again and put ones own personality into it....It is called and seen as.... inspiration....hopefully......

Yes, you can see, it is a thick book! It has a fair few sleeves, so one can put a lot of memories in this one. The back ground of the pages have a lot....a lot of mixed media and a lot of photos of course. This WS was for a day. It covered making of the book and decorating it. No time for the inside. But that is always something personal. Everyone has different photos and a different story. That always needs a lot of time and coffee to get done....for me any way. Got to get it right...right?
So....the inside is another post....another day.....

Getting a closer look at the front detail.
The lettering on the front cover, was fun to do. The same wording is used through the whole book. Also something I don't normally do. 4 different colors made the options brighter, colorful and cheeky.
All came in the kit.
Love that bow. You can not see it so well in the photo, but it is finished with glossy. The glossy makes it curl and lift, so it pops more. I put the glossy on when the bow was glued down. Because it is so small and the glossy needs the time to dry. I do it and leave it to dry...not touching or moving my work any more.....this is a learnt lesson...the hard way. Usually before going to bed or going out. then I am not tempted to touch or alter any thing.....that's when things go wrong!

The embossing with gold detail.
I add the gold as a finishing when all is finished. I do this a lot, but I can understand for a beginner this is so scary! My reasoning is....I can then see what and where it needs an addition. Only draw back is, you have to watch you don't over do it....but that again....is a matter of taste. And as long as you are happy with the out come...that's what it is all about.

Next post....hopefully....will be of some cards I made on vacation while in France......yes I crafted on vacation....

.......I will explain.....
The first 9 days while in sunny France.....IT RAINED!......
My darling Frans was happy that foot ball was playing ....and we had wifi and internet....so he could watch it and hear it!
I was happy I packed a few things to finish and just in case I got bored...sneaky thoughts of....I hope I can fit this in.....as I have to get it done any way....making flowers for a WS, later in the year.
So I was able to play around...making new flowers with stamps and various dies etc....you know....just playing around filling in time....that I normally don't have.

So it was around happiness on vacation....even when it rained....and I mean pouring rain. Thunder and lighting rain.

I am happy to say I made about 15 cards and 2 mini books. I also have taken the photos...I now have to process them and post. Well, if nothing else you can expect at least 15 posts from me....plus all the back logg of LO's and mixed media....Oh life can be so wonderful.....just not enough time in the day!
With that lovely food for thought....

I wish you all happy scrappy inky days ahead.

A DREAMER'S BOOK

Lots of yummy's here.....
Eye candy for the not so neat and tidy girls and boys.

I was tutor for the day!
WORK SHOP at scrap-delight on the 22nd of February 2014

A few close ups. Of course...those that have followed a WS I have given....know they are going to have a lot of fun and a lot of laughing....and last but not least work hard. That is if you want to get it all done.
Cant help my self....I am addicted to detail...and 3d.
At the end of the day....absolutely happly exhausted. New skills learnt and poured their heart and soul into a work of art. Made it their own...they own it!

All the layering.....so yummy!

Always a lot of flowers....so at the end of the day....you know how to make flowers!
It all began with perfect flat paper....not a rip or crease in it!

Learn to make your own chip boards and embellishments

Learn how to place and work with gesso, embossing out of the box and in the box....
also use the box!

Grubby, inky black, gold fingers and hands.....
Oh, but such fun to relive your youth

Below, the spine of the book....not for the faint hearted!

I hope you enjoyed having a squizz at what we made that day.
Scrap-delight is planning on booking another WS for this later in the year....in a few months....when the summer vacations are all out of the way.
This is great for those that are not into flat scrapping and don't mind getting messy hands and getting things done.
Or want to learn another way of using up your treasured old stash....you can not part with!
For those that want to combine the new trend of project life but want that quirky shabby vintage look....the not measured, straight and clean girls and boys....this will be for you.
I have decided to change the size of the book to fit the smaller project life pages....thus I am upgrading the Work Shop!
So you get to learn to make your own album, adapt the clear pages to fit....and....get to 3d the front and spine.
( this time....I have already precut all the paper to save time, so there will be more time to play)
And.....still more.....if we have time and you work real hard....we get to 3d a project life page.
At least you get to see how you can do it.....This WS comes with a full line of paper, embellies, bling and more. To keep the cost down, there will be a list of bring your own.
The bring your own product you will mostly already have in your old stash....
I am a great believer in useing what you already have.

Does this sound like fun...or does it sound like fun? It sounds like a win win to me.
So stay posted for a up date on when this fun day will be... a little birdie told me around October???????? or on demand...if you really don't want to miss out, send a mail to
   scrap-delight.nl
sussipoppins@gmail
the early bird catches the worm. So let me know.

ANOTHER NEW THING IN THE PLANNING...
I am planning crop evenings afternoons at my home. This will be a relaxed laid back hard working fun time for all...hahaha.....some things never change!...(the hard work thing)
So if this sounds like something you want to give a go, try out, even if you are new or old to this form of art, mail me or leave a comment with contact info.
This is a great way to do a Work Shop at your own pace, with no stress of getting it done in the time frame...there is always next week. If you have little ones at home and can't slot the time in to create, or just can't find your "get round to it " at your own place.
Time and day can be arranged to fit the agenda of all parties

WOW....
This is a lot to take in! Yip...I found my "get round to it" thats for sure!
Now I just need to learn how to up load and down load on this new....my new mac.....
get that grey stuff going.
My next post is of a few more photos of the WS I gave. Remember the new one will not be the same.
Have fun with your day and I hope it will be a scrappy one.

SISTERS

Before I begin.....today I opened my Facebook and was shocked to read Robbin Williams ended his life. I, like many others, was a big fan of his talents.
He will be missed.
My heart goes out to his family and close friends. The private pain Robbin Williams must have had to bear.....the pain to be so great and heavy...it was easier to end it than to carry on......
This sort of loss, sorrow makes me really appreciate the feature hope my belief in the bible gives me.
The resurrection and the hope of a paradise earth.
Rev 21:3 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away"
This is a promise to us. Worth thinking about and holding on to....there is a lot happening in this world at the moment! Food for thought
______________

SISTERS

It has been a while since I have been at this little place in my world.
So much has been happening....I don't know where to begin.....so I won't bore you all... that is, all, that have not given up on me and thought I fell off this world ball called "earth" never to return!....hahaha....have not lost the humor....so, for those, all, I will not even start to make excuses or to give long winded reasons etc...just pick up where I left off.
So here goes......

This LO 'SISTERS' was made, a fair.....fair few.....several months ago....so much so...I can't even remember what the details are and what is worse, I can't even find my little blue book with all my notes in it! But I do know the paper line WEBSTERS PAGES...of course.....
It could not be any thing else!
So romantic and soft, and need I say yummy!
Always a candy for the eye.

Believe it or not....thats me in the pink...something I designed for the B&H fashion awards years ago....before the laughing lines and grey hair. Before scrapping was around and about!
Yes... that is my little sis of 12 years, Cherry, also wearing one of my creations...now that is a show and tell of fashion long gone but not forgotten. I think 1975? Feels like a life time ago.
Still, our history and well worth taking the time to scrap and file way in the treasure box of memories.
Sisters for ever!
So young and so many possibilities.

The hearts are hand stitched with gold metallic thread....with much love.

Flowers and leaves are hand made, using the help of Tim Holtz dies.

Can't help my self....got to get those flowers in.
The clear gems give them a subtle finish.

Gold embossing done with the Prima Marketing gate mask.
One of my favs and versitile masks ever.

The title is made with the help of another Tim Holtz alpha die.
Stacked of course to give it a chip board effect.
(I stack 6 layers to get this look.)

Well thats it for this post....more to come tomorrow....got a few posts in the waiting room.
I also lost my "get round to it"so I never got getting round to getting it posted....naughty me!
But....I wish you all happy scrappy  inky days to come....see you soon
sussipoppins inky hugs to all.  oxo
