LOVE FOUND

Sketch for December over at My Minds Eye.
This is my take on the sketch.
These are my wedding photo's.
My personal challenge was not to distress.....very very hard.....but I could not leave it alone...so I sanded the edges...
I can live with that!.I
mounted the photo's on chip board then sanded.

The title. "Found Love" made with a die from Tim Holtz- Sizzix. Cut x6 stacked and glued......
yes it is a pain, but worth it!
Circles from chip board, cut with the help of  a  Sizzix die. The design paper sanded and gold embroidery thread around the edges
The leaves are also finished with gold thread.
I used the  MME stamps from the collection LOST and FOUND 2
The easy sew came in handy to finish this strip, also sanded the edges.
A close up of the bow.....very very happy with this. Take the time to visit Becky's bits she gives a great titurail on bows.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a scrappy day and Scrappy hugs Susan.

Being A Woman......

" Being a woman brings forth life.....being a grandmother embraces a wonder!"

This canvas, colors, inspired by the color room and journaling, once upon a sketch.  Both challenges expired a few weeks ago.
Noah, my step daughters boy, has grown so fast. He is now over a year old...and he looks so different now. Where has the time gone? I think this is a treasure of a photo and worth putting on the wall.

Isn't he so cute...you want to see him now!

Stamped, then painted with Glimmer mist. I love the effect this gives....a subtle hint of shimmer in the light...great for on the wall in a sunny room.

Butterfly's done in the same way, with the same colors. The die cut used is from Cherry Lynn. Mini size

I did a melting pot work shop at Scrapdelight. We all had so much fun, as per usual. Janine is always so relaxed and layed back......we got to make these wings with a mold. Scrap delight still has them in stock if you are interested. A great investment...as you can see......
The blue wings are from MF painted with blue Glimmer mist.....yes you see it...or NOT see it. No stickles this time...wanted to keep it down.
No bling this time! Just mist!

Close up of hand made flowers painted with the Glimmer mist, once again.

Thank you for taking the time to take a peek at my work...have a scrappy day/night...
Scrappy hugs....Susan

Wedding Day

This LO was made with the help of a sketch from- " once upon a sketch"I find the sketches from this site a great challenge for me ,as I find it hard to get journaling into my LO's. Not my thing. So this way I get it done!
The keys, top left, are DUSTY ATTIC painted gold.
DUSTY ATTIC can be found at www.scrapdelight.com There is a great selection to be found at this site.
We are  quite the lucky ones here, in Holland....we just don't all know it yet! From what I read on sites and mails I get, we have such a great selection to chose from as far as scrap equipment etc.goes,........ So don't abuse it....just use it!

The paper used is from an older PRIMA line, but still one of my favs.

I used PRIMA flower vines. I cut them so I could use them for the top and under flower sprays. You also see the SEW EASY hand stitching on the matting. The boarder was punched with the help of MARTHA STEWART boarder punches. Both can be found at www.scrapdelight.com

Here,  my hand made flowers. The rosettes are high lighted with gold STICKLES from RANGER.

The brown paper boarder, is a backing of a PRIMA felt boarder used in another LO. The white you see on the brown paper, is gesso.....so don't through any thing away until you know for sure, you can not use it for anything else. My scrap room is full of it,...I might need this one day.....and it is all filed and labeled..
Thank you for taking the time to drop by and I wish you all a scrappy day.Love Susan

NEWS FLASH!

DON'T YOU JUST HATE IT WHEN.....people have a blog and don't post!!!!!!
SORRY SORRY. I have finally got round to it.
News Flash!   News Flash!  News Flash!  News Flash! News Flash!
The news is......I am now a DESIGN TEAM member for  the store called
"SCRAPDELIGHT".

I know, It looked like I had left the scrap world for a few months...but this is not the case. I just stopped off for a while.....( I have been up grading myself...spoiling myself.....taking a few WS. Sitting on the other side of the table.)...But.... I have been working my butt off as well. Behind the scenes, I have been doing exciting secret projects for Scrapdelight. Which will be revealed later in their Blog magazine. Some of my work is displayed in the store already. I have been working with TWIDDLEY BITZ and COLLECTIONS both from down under. Australia.
Which I might add....is to be found at Scrapdelight

Getting off the track....and getting down to the real reason......, I had such a great-fun-relaxing-time in France.....I found it hard to get back into meeting deadlines and keeping daily appointments etc....getting back into the daily routine was tough. One thing good though. My DH Frans is doing a lot better. He is still a non smoker and his health is looking up. That is always a big plus.
I have also been to Belgium...Yes Gals I did the  "Ingvild"   work shop.I got to play with her new toys and scrap the  "Ingvild"  way. I only booked in for her WS, the Sunday, so I did not get to meet everyone there. But I did meet Sharon from Prima.( I was planning to visit my sister Cheere in Cairns, Australia in Sept.Could not make it, so this was a sticking plaster on the wound to make it better. Sure did the trick. Sorry little sis....may be next year we will make up for lost time, do a retreat and do a few WS together.
Getting back to the NEWS FLASH.....I will be giving a "WORK SHOP" for  Scrapdelight
22nd OCTOBER..... here is a few sneak peeks.

Tittle:- "FAMILY"

For those that have booked, below, is what I have done with the photos.
Black & White.
3x 3cm wide x 7cm high or 9cm wide x 7cm high
NOT ANY LARGER!
The paper chosen is PRIMA- Printery.
This WS is loaded with Glimmer misting, Masking, stamping, embossing, distressing, Flower making....yes....even "Dusty Attic", and in general getting your hands grubby in the Susan Smit style.....so don't forget to bring your apron and be prepared for a , "get your heads down, bums up" WS!
hahahahahaha.....and a lot of fun.....

Well thats it for now.
Cheery o and have a scrappy one
Love Susan

"REMEMBER"

The photo's are from a vacation here in Holland a few years ago when we still had the boat. While floating down 'de Veht' A well known place for booties' over here. I managed to take these great photo's. Hence the title 'REMEMBER' These are also my DH Fran's fav flowers. Therefore, we have many in the front garden ( fellow kiwi's would know....these grow like weeds in New Zealand. I have had them as hedges in my garden when living there...years ago!)
This is a take from a PRIMAMARKETING sketch.
The paper screamed soft flowers....of course I had no problem accommodating the request!
It just kept growing, and growing, and growing...and growing!  Just love to scrap Prima papers! I have to do more of it....but I have a problem cutting into these dream papers...crazy I know!
The circle is crocheted on the edge and framed with a double layer of a rich pleated boarder, made with a MARTHA STEWART deep edge punch.

Tags are made with the TIM HOLTZ dies from SIZZIX, as are also the swirls. The title is stamped with a stamp from Prima, brought out with UNITY. Stamped with STAZON , Embossed with clear powder and then colored in with a fine paint brush with GLIMMER MIST.  Small roses are from PRIMA and butterfly's from MARTHA STEWART. They are all  finished with GLIMMER GLAM.

Thank you Pauline for the tip with puffy paint to give the swirls the texture here. I just love it.  ( A few 'scrappie gals' got together last month for a day...Gerry, Pauline, Romy, Corina, Ingrid and myself....The day was too short of course! I picked this up that day...looking forward to the next one.)  Don't you just fall in love all over again with these adorable roses with glitter glass? From Prima of course.  Just love these soft colors....my stash is getting low. so I have to get stocked up again....oh...oh....oh...what a bother! I will just have to go shop till I drop again....I wonder where I can do this....take a guess!

PN: I know I had promised to post a LO. WS. I have not forgotten......I just have not had the time due to Frans health and other commitments.....I will get one posted after I get settled back in after our vacation later this month.....before the end of the year....promise!..... We are planning the South of France....a cute little cottage in the middle of no where.....( in the wop wop's).....can't take any scrap gear though, but I will be taking my embroidery work with me....I want to finish my vacation bear. I am crazy quilting a bear. I started it a few years ago....A real get round to it!....And Frans has invested in a new camera, what better way to learn how it works....vacation!
Thats it for now...have a wonderful day and try to put some scrap into it!

"LIFE"

ONCE UPON A SKETCH JULY 15th

The "QUOTE" came from a TIM HOLTZ stamp I had to have once I saw what was on it. I find it true to life....A lot of the time we have to learn to dance in the rain...and mostly with out an umbrella, but with a bit of it going our way, sometimes, we get to use the umbrella.Hence the embossed umbrella man, I just had to add it!...Don't you just love what Timmy does for all us scrap junkies?.....and you know what.....the CHA has just been....so we can look forward to new toys.

The photo....  A bird dancing in front of a car side mirror..isn't it adorable?

The flowers are made from, "HEART FELT' stamps....a big thank you to LISA for all her sharing. She gives great tutorials at her special place.....worth checking it out.www.what-a-beautiful-mess.blogspot.com

Close up of the umbrella man and quote. The colbot blue back ground behind the photo is a die from Cherry Lynn. Painted with GLIMMER GLAM-Blue suede shoes. The same is used for the flowers mixed with GLIMMER GLAM- Peach bellini. Leaves are also "HEART FELT"-distressed leaves, painted with GLIMMER MIST- olive green

Dusty Attic chips used are DA0557 Damask #2 (cut in half.  Larger piece used on the top and smaller on bottom under the photo's.) Stamped with an older Prima markting stamp with the music letters on it. Inked with STAZE ON- blue them sprayed with GLIMMER MIST-Olive vine. Dusty Attic chips are also tucked in the layering on top of the TIM HOLTZ Banners with the swirls, each side of the photo, to be seen in the LO. at the top of this post.
Well I hope you all enjoyed visiting me.

I wish you all scrappy fun and till next time
....Love Susan.....
PN. Thank you all for your kind comments regarding my dear Frans. He is feeling a lot better the last week...theres hope for me yet...hahahaha

"DUSTY ATTIC" - A WONDER COMPANY!

This is it....the wonder packet I waited so long for.( see my previous post ) Some one in customs knows the value of PIZZA BOXES!..........

You can see how many goodies I received!......A big tip.......Go for it Gals. Every month they have a sketch challenge down under at Dusty Attic.....For those that do not know "SCRAPDELIGHT" have Dusty Attic in stock.......and if they don't have it....Michelle is kind enough to pull finger out and do her best to order it for you....... It is better to do it this way as I heard a daymare story today, yes a daymare!!! It is a lot worse than a nightmare! Why? Because you are awake and aware of what is going on!and can't do anything about it!
Some one I know, who did not know the above ordered DA product with a store from down under, as you can not order direct from DA. She had to pay import charges and expensive postage.Excess of 75 euro......think of how much scrap stash we can buy for that! So go visit www.scrapdelight.nl and check it out......that is... for all the fellow dutch scrappies.
Yes even the peacock feather was included! Take a look at the corners. Check out  the Greek pillars above. A big thank you to Dusty Attic and to the admin who went the extra mile to get this to me.As we say here in Holland A Warm shower to you. Can't wait to start playing with my new toys.
Dusty Attic is worth taking the time to visit as I think the scarp work there is of high quality and they have pretty good scrap Diva's on the design team there.
Thanks again for visiting my blog
Love Susan

ONCE UPON A SKETCH July 1st......"KARIN"

 "KARIN"
Karin, is my husbands younger sister of 6 years. After this photo was taken she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After much  holding of ones  breath..as to all the chemotherapy  treatments  working............Karin had a few complications, she is a solo mum with two teenage daughters.
SHE IS A SURVIVER!
She has been clean now for more than a year. This is one strong lady. She deserves a pink ribbon from us all.

The paper line used is from GLITZ-Afternoon Muse.Dusty Attic DA0508 Leaves. Painted with gesso then Glimmer Glam-Organic Garden (green).  American Crafts premium ribbon-Pink

Glitz stamp from the "Laced with Grace" collection. Painted with glimmer mist-TUTTI FRUTI/PATINA/OLIVE VINE.  Martha Stewart boarder punch used around the circle.

Belive it or not....this is the first time I have used flags in a LO. To my surprise, I had fun making them.

POST NOTE: For those that have mist my posts.
The reason why I have not posted for a while is due to my DH's health. Three months ago he stopped smoking cigars and cigarettes. I might add he is still a smoke free person...much to my joy..it has not been for nothing..... But he has had a lot of complications since this time. He has had and still has medication poisoning from his heart medication, thank goodness we found out which meds it was due to a natural health doctor. So it has been a long few months. A few times to the first help in the middle of the night and a evening with the ambulance being called. Then two weeks ago he had a nerve root irritation...I think you could compare the pain to labour pains, No amount of strong pain killers helped and off corse no sleep.....for both of us! Another trip to first help as the pain flowed to the left arm. Heart patient and all. So now strict rest. A lot of TLC from me...which I might add has cost a lot of my scrap time!(  he is worth it though! ) Now he can walk from one end of the house to the other with out a pain attack! WHAT A RELIEF. I have been scapping, but not posting.
There has been good news though!
I had won the DUSTY ATTIC prize for March .....yes that long ago! The package got lost in the post. DUSTY ATTIC being such a wonder company sent another to me. It made my day when I came home from a hard day playing with the three princesses in my charge. And what a package it was! I will be posting it..thats why I have not used it yet....got to get the photo's done!!!!! A BIG GET ROUND TO IT! A big thank you to all the gals in the admin down under! A special thanks to Michelle for taking the time to answer all my mails.
Hope this has not been too long and drawn out...thats why I noted this at the end.
Thank you for taking the time to drop by,
Love from me to you and try to have a scrappy day.
Susan
